i ended up drawing aliens instead because i was reminded of them while talking out anxiety problems.
they’re a species i made up many years ago but rarely draw anymore, mostly because i’m not sure what i’d do with them. they’re an aquatic coastal race, sort of like humanoid dolphin-otter things. they have very streamlined bodies, no external features (no breasts, etc) so they could swim very fast and catch fish, then go onto land to trade. my first drawing of them was in 2003 or so. the only gender dimorphism was through the bone structure of males and females (females more wider, males more narrow).
silly confession: i basically made them because i was tired of obviously non-human aliens in science fiction having giant tits for no apparent reason (the worst offender was some official art of the protoss from starcraft, with females having breasts even though the race had NO MOUTHS and more importantly WERE NOT MAMMALS). i took my pretendy sci-fi funtimes very seriously when i was 15. :V
so tl;dr silly nostalgic drawing of some aliens i made as a kid. i like to worldbuild, and the only reason i didn’t infodump about their society or anything like that is because i’m tired.
my wrist stopped hurting today but now i’ve been majorly art blocked. maybe sleep will help!

Phew! The sixth canvas of Ask Councilman Tarrlok answers, with a seventh in the wings. This one started crashing the program, too! Like the rest, these are all done on a 3000x3000 canvas.

I think I’m going to make it personal policy from now on that every time Makorra is fisted into my face in canon, I’m going to draw more Bolin because he’s a cutiepie and his brother’s a jerk. I really do need to draw him more often than once in a blue moon. ;n;
